                                Bill Amundson

Bill Amundson recently re-located back to his hometown in Wisconsin, after spending much of his career in Denver, CO.  Amundson draws inspiration from his personal experience observing the modern landscape and drawing what he sees.  His work is topical and reflects the changing contemporary landscapes - both societal and literal.  Working in what he refers to as the "Suburban Regionalist" style, his work captures and celebrates the true North American scene rather than an idealized version.  Amundson focuses on distinct icons such as the subdivision, big box retail, restaurant and retail franchises, and as he refers to it - the holy trilogy of contemporary life: cell phones, lattes, and SUV's.  Amundson's work has been described as: ironic, compulsive, sweet, ireverent, whimsical, fanatical, hysterical, and banal.Bill Amundson recently re-located back to his hometown in Wisconsin, after spending much of his career in Denver, CO. Amundson's work has been described as: ironic, compulsive, sweet, ireverent, whimsical, fanatical, hysterical, and banal.
