Art Exchange

ArtEXCHANGE as a body of work is the final phase of a collaboration between six Toronto area artists exploring loss-of-control within an art-producing context.  Working with varying media, motivations and styles, each artist initiated five pieces of work in a flat, fifteen square inch format.  Each artist exerted influence only at a single point in the production of each of the thirty pieces, therefore forfeiting control of the work by passing it on to the others.  From the struggle “to connect with each other’s language and include our own, [emerged} a body of work, larger than the sum of the parts.”
