Keijo Tapanainen

Keijo Tapanainen captures the beauty, simplicity and sensuality of the human form in this intimate series of hand-cut carbon paper figure studies.  The elegant lines and sophistication of these images is juxtaposed with the textural surface of the carbon paper mounted on a kraft paper substrate.

The human form is potentially the most complex and demanding form an artist can represent.  The work is grounded in the physical reality of a keenly observed subject, intensified by the artist’s intuitive response to the form. Subtle distinctions in the subject's physical language, the artist's perspective and the way the viewer sees the work can vastly modulate the interpretation.

A native of Finland, Keijo Tapanainen lives and works in Toronto and has exhibited across North America.
